a Windows app
Thanks for the feedback!
Sight Sign showcases three technologies working together: eye input, inking, and robotics.
The Windows 10 application enables users to ink in their own signature, and when hooked up to a robot via USB, can instruct the robot to reproduce the signature writing. In addition, the app is “eye gaze” enabled which means once the ink is saved, users can control the robot with their eyes, mouse, keyboard, or other assistive technology. Our hope is that the community can use this experimental project as inspiration to develop ideas that also combines these technologies to do even more.
The application, source code, and 3D schematics are all available freely. The robotic arm must be purchased. Our goal was to find a robotic arm that was low cost, easy to code, easy to transport, and light-weight. If others want to use the same solution, the uArm Metal robot met our requirements beautifully: https://www.ufactory.cc/
Finally, we made some modifications to the robot so that it could be used to write scara style, which increased the accuracy of imitating the ink. The schematics and reasoning behind these changes can be found in more detail in github.
